No Commission

After a successful Art Basel: Miami debut, Swizz Beatz & The Dean Collection bring No Commission: Art Performs to South Bronx New York. A free show for the people combining the Arts with Hip-hop at its birthplace. The idea of No commission is very simple, by the artists, for the artists. All artists are given their exhibition space for free and 100% of the sale of each piece goes directly to the artist. Its first edition in Art Basel: Miami delivered just over $1 million in art sold.

"We have to help ourselves.. Other people won't look out for us creatives the same way we do"  - Swizz Beatz

Local artisits as well as artists from around the world including Tomokazu Matsuyama, Jaybo Monk, Kehinde Wiley, Sandra Chevrier, Faile all came together to have their work shown in the South Bronx for the first time. With the intention of combing the world of art with hip-hop, each night consisted of a free concert in which artists like Swizz Beatz. A$ap Rocky, DMX, Fabolous, Fat joe, Q-tip and more all came out to perform for the people and be apart of the movement.

So many positives messages were being portrayed throughout the event. Peace and positivity with the importance and appreciation of one's creative work. Swizz walked around throughout the show meeting everyone, taking pictures and most effectively having constructive conversations with young artists. He even emphasized the importance of having a ferris wheel outside symbolizing us as a people rising and going ALL THE WAY UP! A NY cliche together with the overall ideas portrayed at the show gave people a sense of hope and inspiration knowing they too can bring their dreams into fruition.

"Sky is not the limit, it's just the view." - Swizz Beatz

A collective of creatives gathering in the South Bronx for the first time to show and appreciate each other's works was a beautiful thing. 4 nights of Art, free drinks provided by Bacardi and free live performances each night made No Commision: NY nothing but positive energy. Be on the look out for the 3rd installment of No commision: Art Performs at Art Basel Miami 2016.
